EATING FOR HEALING

There is no one healing diet for everyone, although there are some basic principles that are fairly universal. I have personally tried almost every diet under the sun...Macrobiotic, Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw, Keto, Paleo, Chinese therapeutic, Ayurvedic, etc...After all of my years experimenting, and studying, I have found what works best for myself, as well as some core foods and food principles that will benefit most everyone.   My goal in any diet plan is for it to be anti-inflammatory, including eliminating processed foods and refined sugars, and optimizing nutrient rich whole foods. I try and keep it simple, making recipes that are quick and easy and full of vitality...I work with your particular dietary preferences and personal needs to customize something nutritious and delicious~*~

I believe there is flexibility in what foods are best for anyone, and that it changes over time for many reasons. Even if you're eating freshest organic locally grown and pasture raised healthy food, doesn't ensure that your body is able to assimilate all that goodness. This is why focusing on digestion and constitutional eating is also very important to me when customizing diet plans, a common principle of both Chinese and Ayurvedic systems of healing, as is eating with the seasons. I am fascinated with modern studies of the microbiome and its effects on the brain and immune system, and that all diseases begin in the gut was a theory taught by Hippocrates over 2000 years ago. So, if you get butterflies in your tummy trying to figure out what you should be eating, go with your gut and call for a consult~*~

PERSONALIZED PROTOCOLS

Along with foods and current diet fads, it is easy to get overwhelmed by the vast selection of herbal and dietary supplements and healing protocols.  Every expert out there has their own brands and suggestions, and its easy to start to believe all of it is what we need to feel better. It is quite common for clients to come and see me with a bag full of 30 different bottles of things they’re taking. The saying too much of a good thing definitely can apply to this situation. It can also work wonders for short periods of time, treating many ideas at once, and fully supporting the system, while balancing and clearing. Some potential problems that may occur, besides becoming tired of taking so many pills, is that is could be sending too many confusing messages for the brain to comprehend, or body to digest. One of my favorite things to do is sit down and help people sort through the sea of supplements and concepts and choose a course that covers your most crucial needs, right now, and start to develop a plan for the future. Another favorite is making herbal formulas…Plant medicine has an intelligence our innate bodies understand…Their beauty and bounty uplifts the heart and entire being receiving their nourishment and energy gratefully~*~

Do you start your day in a positive way? I invite you to consider walking up to 5 minutes of meditation, stretching, setting a daily intention, taking a moment to remember what you’re grateful for. Don’t have time for yoga? Can you find another 10 minutes to do some simple asanas? Add some simple detox rituals into your morning routine. Enjoy a nourishing and cleansing morning elixir. Dry brushing, oil pulling, salt scrubs, scalp massage and essential oil therapy are few of the many ways I have to share to support a healthy daily detox.

DAILY DETOX

Everywhere you turn these days you hear people talking about detox diets, cleansing, and fasting, and I do not believe there is a need for extreme fads to optimize your body’s ability to detox.  Although, I also do practice and teach short smart cleanses. You may be saying, but I eat healthy and exercise, so I don’t need to detox, but the truth is that every day we are exposed to many factors that can stress the body and become toxic to one’s system. Pollution, plastics, traffic, emfs, etc…and…mental stress, negative thinking, fear, anger, etc…

Even the healthiest bodies can always use some support in processing and excreting toxins, as can the mind to be reminded to release reactions and reset its pathway. And mindfulness can be carried with you throughout your day, with another daily self care practice. Try taking as little as one minute an hour during your work day to step away, relax your mind and find your inner smile, will increase productivity, decrease stress, and help you thrive~*~
